Interstellar matter in our Galaxy and galaxies,
Observational and theoretical study of interstellar dust

Overview of Researches

Interstellar matter and dust play a significant role in the interstellar physics as well in the evolution of the matter in the Universe. In particular interstellar dust dominates in the infrared emission of active galaxies, which allows us to study the physical conditions of distant galaxies. We are developing instruments to be on board space telescopes and ground-based telescopes, and making infrared observations with space and ground-based telescopes to unveil the nature of interstellar matter.
